The main courses he teaches in the Department of Film and Media Studies are International Communications; Media, Sports and Society; and Media and Politics. He also teaches a class on desktop publishing.

His interests include media and telecommunications policy - the interaction of the political, legal, cultural and technological aspects of the media and how these impact upon how governments, international organizations, the private sector and public organizations understand and use the media. He is particularly interested in international/global media issues and questions of national identity and cultural production as well as the impact of news on public opinion and foreign policy.

Dr. Shore also regularly co-teaches a course in the Thomas Hunter Honors Program on South Africa and Southern Africa. An integral part of this course is the weekend long "South Africa Simulation Game."

He has also developed an educational website- 'Ripple of Hope in the Land of Apartheid: Robert Kennedy in South Africa, June 1966' (rfksa.org). The website is being used in a number of college courses. He is also making a documentary film on the same subject.

Dr. Shore immigrated to the United States from South Africa in 1973. He was active in the Anti-Apartheid Movement in the United States in the 1980's and continues to be active in US/South African issues. In 1991 he founded SAAO (the South African-American Organization) the largest South African expatriate organization in the United States. He served as the organization's president for five years. He has been interviewed on South African subjects on various national and local radio and TV stations including Charlie Rose (PBS), CNBC, WBAI. He is the Director of the Hunter College University of Cape Town Partnership Program.
