Hunter Film Club: May events

Hey Film Lovers,

May is shaping up to be an exciting month for the Hunter Film Club! We’re closing out the semester with some incredible events — including a special guest appearance you won’t want to miss. Here’s everything you need to know:

???? Screening: No Country for Old Men – In Honor of Professor Joel Zuker
???? TBD | ???? 1:30 PM | ????TBD

We are proud to host a screening of the Coen Brothers’ classic No Country for Old Men in honor of beloved Hunter professor Joel Zuker. A beautifully crafted meditation on fate, violence, and mortality, this film is a must-see (or a must-revisit) for any cinephile. We’ll have a short discussion afterward reflecting on Professor Zuker’s impact and love for cinema.

???? May 13th: Script-to-Screen Workshop
???? Tuesday, May 13th | ???? 1:30 PM | ????Baker Lounge 304

Ever wonder how a script transforms into a finished film? We’ll take a look at selected scenes from a famous script and compare them to the final on-screen version.
Bring a script idea if you have one — we’ll also have time for peer feedback!

???? May 20th: Short Film Showcase + Open Mic
???? Tuesday, May 20th | ???? 1:30 PM | ????Baker Lounge 304

Celebrate the end of the semester with our Short Film Showcase! We’ll be screening short films made by fellow students — and we’ll open the floor for quick project pitches, future collab ideas, or just fun stories about your film journey this year.
Interested in submitting a short film (10 minutes or under)? Email us by May 16th!

Warmly,
Laurel Creighton
