With 19 Pulitzer Prizes and other esteemed awards for outstanding journalism, our mission and vision is to engage consumers and businesses by connecting them to the communities in which they live, work and play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Newsday summer internship program runs for 10 weeks and is designed for college students interested in a media career. We are accepting applications for interns to cover local and breaking news, students interested in working in the opinion section and multimedia journalists. Interns are participants, not merely observers, in the daily process of creating content for the newspaper and the digital products. The summer program includes weekly seminars in which participants join with regular Newsday staff members in informal discussions. Since Newsday operates seven days a week, interns can expect their hours to fluctuate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Internship opportunities include: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Local and breaking news intern<\/strong>: Report and write daily Long Island news stories and news features; contribute to breaking news coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Opinion section intern<\/strong>: Assist editorial staff with researching and writing opinion pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Multimedia intern:<\/strong> Shoot news events and learn Newsday\u2019s editing software system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>You must be a junior, senior or graduate student enrolled in a degree program as of December 2019.<\/li><li>At least one previous internship at a daily newspaper, magazine or website.<\/li><li>Interns must have a valid driver\u2019s license and a car.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Newsday Media Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer and maintains a drug-free and smoke-free workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/newsday.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com\/en-US\/Newsday\/job\/Melville---Corporate-Center-Drive\/Summer-2020-Paid-Reporter-and-Multimedia-Internship_R719\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Apply here.
